The initial plan to use an inflatable head ball for flotation was complicated by its design, as the breathing hole's placement meant water ingress during independent floating. This necessitated a return to a previous headgear model, though an unfortunate breakage meant improvisation was key.

Despite these challenges, the buoyancy of the head ball, combined with a secure collar grip, allowed for controlled movement through the water. However, repeated exposure to water left Shiyu visibly distressed and fearful.
