Mei Niang Studio: Upside-Down Water Torture in the Courtyard
An Mu, dressed in a pristine white office uniform, found herself utterly helpless as Mei Niang, with the assistance of a doctor, secured her legs to a pole. Her hands were bound and stretched taut, fastened to pillars behind her, leaving her suspended upside down in the open courtyard. The sweltering heat of the day prompted a rather extreme method of "cooling down."
A basin of water was positioned directly before An Mu's face. Slowly, inexorably, a crane lowered her, immersing her face into the water. A profound terror of both breathing and water gripped her, yet she was utterly immobilized, her eyes squeezed shut in desperate fear. Each time her face emerged, she gasped for air, her heart pounding. But before she could fully recover, she was submerged once more, the cycle of torment continuing.
This intense session explores themes of forced submersion and the psychological impact of being utterly at the mercy of one's captors in a public, yet isolated, setting. The contrast between her professional attire and her vulnerable state amplifies the scene's dramatic tension.
